Exploring is Learning for Life’s career education program for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the 8th grade) to 20 years of age. The purpose of Exploring is to provide experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. Exploring is a program of activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, and develop.

Exploring is based on a unique relationship between youth and the organizations in their communities. Local organizations initiate an Explorer Post by matching their people and program resources to the interests of young people in the community. Exploring is based on five areas of emphasis: career opportunities, life skills, citizenship, character education, and leadership experience. Explorer Posts can specialize in a variety of career skills such as health care, engineering, law enforcement, fire service, communication, and trade skills.

If you are interested in starting an Exploring Post or joining an existing Post please contact Lauren Vlachos at lvlachos@bsamail.org.
