Backpacking is an experience that blends adventure, skill-building, and a deep connection to nature. It’s not just about reaching a campsite or completing a hike, but about embracing the journey, facing challenges, and growing through each step. Every trail walked and every obstacle faced is a lesson in resilience and teamwork.

The Suffolk County Council's High Adventure Committee is offering a Backpacking Trip October 18th-19th to Scouts and Leaders. 

Important Notes:

• Participants will take the LIRR Montauk Branch (train time to be determined) on 10/18 to Montauk.
• From Montauk, Participants will hike to Hither Hills Park and camp overnight.
• On 10/19, Participants will ike back to the LIRR Station for a return train ride.
• Youth Participants must be at least 16 years of age at the start of the trip and have achieved the rank of First Class.
• Meals will be provided.
• There will be a mandatory shakedown at the Council Service Center on October 6th at 7pm.
• Participants must register by September 30, 2025
