High Adventure Canoe & Kayak / Paddle Craft Safety

The purpose of Paddle Craft training is to sufficiently prepare anyone to safely supervise a particular boating activity. Training will ensure skill in and safe operation of the craft for the specific activity. Participants will become knowledgeable in accident prevention and be prepared for emergency situations. The course is available to adults and youth 15 years and over.
Courses will cover skills for flat water canoeing (and/or kayaking) to allow you to judge your readiness for supervising a basic canoe (or kayak) activity.
Canoe & Kayak - Paddle Craft
Wednesday, November 13th - 6:30pm to 9:00 pm & Skill session July 6th 9am-1pm
- Wednesday - Lecture (Registration, Requirements, Trip Planning & Equipment) at the Hauppauge Public Library
- Saturday - Skills at Baiting Hollow Scout Camp at the waterfront
**Limited to 12 participants. You must attend both lecture & skills sessions to receive certification.
The following items must be completed prior to the April 3rd class. Please bring proof of completion to class.
- BSA Health form completed within the past year.
- Successful completion of the BSA swim test within the past year.
- Complete Safety Afloat (online).
- Complete Safe Swim Defense (online).
