Hiking is a great High Adventure Activity that can range from local, partial day events to multi day events both near and far. They’re fun and engaging. Longer hikes that challenge and explore are a great way to keep older Scouts and Scouters excited and involved.

Introduction to Hiking will provide Scouters a primer on what Hiking activities are available to a Unit. The class is designed to help attendees move beyond their regular, 3 miles outings in Connetquot or Southard’s Pond which they and their Scouts have all done too many times.

The class will discuss what hikes Units can do, the basics of planning them and the benefit of the troop.

After the class, attending Scouters should be prepared to have a hiking discussion with their PLC and understand how to plan from there.
