Wilderness First Aid Training
Suffolk County Council is offering Wilderness First Aid (WFA) training at Baiting Hollow Scout Camp (BHSC). All Crews attending a BSA National High Adventure Base must have persons certified in WFA, along with CPR/AED.
Wilderness First Aid is a 16-hour, scenario-based course, enabling Crews to assess and treat an ill or injured person in a remote environment where definitive care of a physician and/or rapid transport is not readily available. The pre-requisite for WFA is a current CPR/AED certification. Participants will bring fully packed backpacks, using the Philmont backpacking checklist, to BHSC to use during the course. Participants will simulate camping at a Philmont Scout Ranch program camp dedicated to WFA. Participants will provide their own meals. Bring an extra old t-shirt to be cut up for bandages.Registered participants will receive digital course material.
