Suffolk County Council is offering Wilderness First Aid (WFA) training for the 2025 High Adventure season. All Crews attending programs at BSA National High Adventure Bases must have persons certified in WFA, along with CPR/AED.
We provide WFA certification through the Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI), one of 3 providers meeting the BSA’s requirements for WFA training. The BSA WFA course is a 16-hour curriculum taught in a hybrid format, with 8 hours of in-person instruction and 8 hours of online training. The in-person instruction focuses on Wilderness First Aid scenarios, skills demonstration, and skills testing. The online training permits participants to complete the coursework at their own pace and schedule.
After registration with SCCBSA the participant will be emailed a link to the ECSI enrollment website and a redemption code. The participant will then enroll on the ECSI website directly. The cost is $26 with the redeem code ($39.32 if they purchase the book as well thru ECSI). There is a $5 fee due at the time of check-in for the course which can be paid via cash or check. Once enrolled, participants will download course material from Jones and Bartlett Learning (JBL). All participants must complete the coursework and pass the final exam prior to the in-person session.
The in-person session is Saturday, October 19, 2024.
For those requiring CPR/AED Certification, please reach out to the Course Director directly at sccbsacprfirstaid@gmail.com
